Eagles put Baskett on the block

The Eagles want to sign quarterback Jeff Garcia, but before they can add him to the active roster they need to shrink the complement of players by one.

So they can cut someone, put someone in injured reserve, or trade someone.

They’ll initially try to make a deal, according to Sal Paolantonio of ESPN (via Sheil Kapadia of philly.com).

And the candidate to be traded is receiver Hank Baskett.

Baskett was an undrafted free agent in 2006.  He signed with the Vikings, who then traded him to Philly for receiver Billy McMullen.

  1. I like it. Id rather them trade Reggie Brown but no one is going to give up a pick or a player for him so Hank Baskett is the next best option IMO.

  2. I can definetely see Baskett going back to Minnesota. I think after watching the game vs. the Browns on Sunday, its clear the Vikes need help at reciever and Baskett is good at getting down the field. I can see Vikes giving Eagles a 4th or 5th round pick for him.

  3. At Hooby,
The “racist” Mr. Ed was from Chapelle’s Show. It wasn’t a real clip.
That being said, They’ll get nothing for Hank. He’ll be cut tomorrow

  4. Yea I agree…I’d rather trade worthless Reggie Brown. But that’s why they can’t trade him..Cuz he’s WORTHLESS. That’s why they deactivate him over Baskett. Baskett plays special-teams, and is a good run blocker. What does Reggie Brown do? What does he have to offer?..Besides inconsistent hands!
Makes me sick though cuz for YEARS, Reids been tryna sell Reggie Brown to Eagles fans. Hype’n him up and waiting for his “Break out season”. Hilarious!
Keep waitn’ Reid. Just like you’ve been waitn’ for that Superbowl!

  5. Having Kolb start .. is the best thing ,we can do.
If he can’t play NFL Football,,by now … he never will.
Now is the time to find out.
Reggie Brown is a “much” better WR,than Baskett … this year.
Brown has been going good all pre-season.

  6. Why would ANYONE trade anything for Hank Baskett? That said, the Raiders still have their 2011 2nd round pick, right?

  7. Why would anyone trade for him when they know the iggles have to cut someone eventually? That said he would look good suiting up along side Gage for my Titans

  8. You guys have two and two but can’t make four. If they have to release a WR, it’s Brown that goes. If they can get a draft pick next year, it’s Basket that leaves.

  9. Kevin from Philly:
It’s a matter of salary cap I bet Brown is more of a cap hit than baskett so baskett is on the chopping block, simple.
    Oh yeah BTW eagles suck!
