Bills KR Leodis McKelvin said he had no regrets about bringing a kickoff out of the end zone in the fourth quarter even after he fumbled it to set up the Patriots’ winning touchdown in the 25-24 loss.
Bills QB Trent Edwards was 12 of 25 for 215 yards and two touchdowns leading the no-huddle offense.
For the most part, the new-look Bills offensive line looked good in their debut performance.
Edwards was sacked twice on the final series, however, which helped grind comeback hopes into dust.
Bills RB Fred Jackson had an effective night, picking up 57 yards on the ground and 83 receiving yards.
Patriots QB Tom Brady was 39 of 53 for 378 yards and an interception, and two fourth-quarter touchdown passes to lead a comeback win.
Both of those touchdown passes were caught by TE Benjamin Watson, which equals his total for the 2008 season.
Patriots WR Randy Moss had 12 catches and finished the night 13th all-time on the NFL’s career reception leader list.
Said Patriots DE Ty Warren, “I think we pulled it out by the skin of our teeth, but at the same time, a win is a win. Nobody is that blind to say it wasn’t mistake-free.”
The Patriots honored their 50th anniversary team at halftime, which had LB Tedy Bruschi back in a Patriots jersey two weeks after his retirement.
