Moss might not go for the Patriots

The good news for the Patriots is that receiver Wes Welker, who missed last week’s loss to the Jets with a knee injury, is expected to play on Sunday against the Falcons.

The bad news is that, out of the blue (perhaps it’s a blue moon), receiver Randy Moss appears on the injury report as questionable, due to a back problem that kept him from practicing on Friday.

A total of eleven Patriots, including Welker and Moss, are questionable.  The others are tight end Chris Baker (ankle) cornerback Darius Butler, who popped up on the report today with a thigh injury, center Dan Connolly (back), receiver Julian Edelman (ankle), safety Brandon Meriweather (ankle), defensive lineman Myron Pryor (calf), receiver Matthew Slater (elbow),  defensive back Shawn Springs, who popped up today with a knee injury, and cornerback Terrence Wheatley (knee).

Also, and to no surprise, quarterback Tom Brady is probable with a right shoulder injury.

  1. Moss is questionable with strained tearducts – from crying over Bart Scott’s comments about his lack of manliness.
How in the world will the Pats replace Randy’s 24 receiving yards or his 6 yards per catch average? Is he saving himself until November 22nd, so he can get schooled by Darrelle Revis again?

  2. Funny Extra Points Reiss’s old column reported that everyone was present for practice except Mayo. Florio/NBC throwing the net out trolling for morons, hello Puerto Rico Bob!

  3. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhgggggg he better #$@#ing play! I got him in the second round of both of my fantasy drafts.

  4. Losing Moss for a game would be tough. That would mean Joey Galloway would have to run horrible misguided routes on long passes instead of short ones.

  5. @Hayward: LMFAO……hahahaha!!
Now were gonna see how long Moss can keep from goin cry baby, playing on a mediocre team! You Pats fans thought he was the shit when he was winning……now your gonna get a taste of what Moss is really like playing on an average team! Better hope Brady gets him his 6-8 passes a game or shits gonna hit the fan!

  6. So anyone have an over/under as to the number of folks on this list that play? I’m thinking, 9.5…

  7. Brady was not the same before the injury. the Giants showed how to stop Brady HURT him. Brady is a first class puss

  8. Keep the hate coming, boys. Every year you predict the Patriots demise and every year they make it further than your horseshit teams.

  9. florio=consistency. why do you continue to beat this dead horse? ampats, you are right on the money.

  10. Bah…So the #1 WR is gimpy and so is the entire secondary?? I smell Patriot poo poo….They will all play and still loose. GO FALCONS

  11. Hedley Lamarr, This “Karma” shit is getting old and very tiring.
Btw, with a handle like you have, it’s no wonder you’re pissed at the world. Hedley? Are you shittin’ me?

  12. “You Pats fans thought he was the shit when he was winning……now your gonna get a taste of what Moss is really like playing on an average team!”
Yeah, dip-shit. Moss is a real nightmare. Just like we saw last year when Brady went down in the first eight minutes of the first game making NE and “average team.” Boy, he really had a meltdown then. Um… no. So much hate and so stupid. You must be from the South…. or a Steelers fan. Get a clue.

  13. laughing at the media since they anointed the pats a record of 15-1 and a parade in febuary!
Anyone who watched the 07 sb, last season and this preseason could see the pats oline and defense were
a shell of itself, yet the media acted like brady was
the lord and savior and nothing else mattered!
After this week the media will be blaiming the oline and by week 14 they will be saying brady was way over rated lol.
    That is the media!

  14. Alot of wishful dirt shoveling on the casket.
    We’ll see about that.
Remember, they won all the Super Bowls without Moss.
They only needed him to go 16-0 in the regular season. First time in history.

  15. hayward giapunchmi-
That has got to be sixburghdude sneakin’ back in. It’s the same over-the-top punctuation, rude humor, skewed facts and lack of literate sense.
He slipped past your watchful eye and has proceded to mock you, Florio. For shame.
Do what you must, and ban him back to the Pittsburgh Weekly Gazzette back page 8 member blog comments section where he belongs. Again.

  16. Most people who know anything about the sport knew this team would be rusty, the media hype surrounding this team is just that.

  17. You Pats fans thought he was the shit when he was winning……now your gonna get a taste of what Moss is really like playing on an average team! Better hope Brady gets him his 6-8 passes a game or shits gonna hit the fan!
ummm… Pats were just a bit above an average team last year and there wasn’t anything but leadership and professionalism from Moss.
And Moss really was the shit when he was winning. Broke a league record too ya doofus.

I’m confused. Were you talking to the Colts fans, or the Giants fans, or the Steeler fans? Which one – not so clear to me.

The Team of the Decade will be fine.
    Moss or no Moss.

I agree, the Steelers have been fine for years without Moss, so they won’t miss him against the Bengals on Sunday either.

Actually, my team made the playoffs last year. Did the Pats? No.
    Will they this year? No.
No defense + no run game = no playoffs.
Welker cant stay healthy, now Moss, and Brady is getting killed.
At least you have the Bruins to cheer for in a couple of weeks.

  21. God this is beautiful…the Jets kicked the crap out of them. I hope Merriwether is able to walk again soon after leon Broke his ankles so mercilessly.
As for the “teamof the decade” guy..haha maybe..but I think the Steelers have some claim to that as well..too bad you didnt close that superbowl you couldhave been the greatest team in history..ah well time to dissapear for again Patriot fans…i figure for at least 4 years..
and Blackglass..what are you smoking they didn’t even make the playoffs last year.

  22. Where were all you clowns last year when everyone wrote off the Pats when Brady went down? ? They still went 11-6, a record better that some playoff teams. Read nothing into the injury reports. If a player had a leg amputated, Coach Bill would list him as questionable due to leg injury.

  23. Sorry mussolini, they beat the Steelers in nearly every criteria for Team of the Decade.
    Thanks for playing, though.

Which criteria? Biggest fines for cheating?

  25. Faith is what you have in the face of the unkown. As sure as Brady is the son of god. I think we can all agree that Coach Bill is the one true god of the NFL.
Be ware not to invoke the wrath of GOD my children.

“Patriots suck, moss is washed up and brady is not the same after the injury.”
and you, Jerry, haven’t posted anything sensible since the lobotomy.
Seriously though Florio, I generally see through your haters, but this is the worst piece of horsecrap I have ever seen you write.
You read a report from a biased jerkoff, and completely disregard your own post about Moss’ back being questionable, just to believe Freeman’s BS instead of what your eyes – and common sense – tell you, just so you can start a bunch of Favre-brings-Moss-back-to-Minnesota bullshit.
How low have you sunk, Mike? This is perhaps your worst moment ever, even worse than “Bradshaw is dead”.
Moss is being a model citizen since coming to New England and he’s playing his a$$ off. Must really suck to be one of those people who hate to see him finally suceed on AND off the field.
And seriously, why would a guy of his caliber want to go back to play with an over-rated, over the hill, can’t make up his mind if he’s going to take a shit today or not old man, when he can play with Tom Freaking Brady???
This was the worst piece of reporting you have done since I started reading this site a few years ago.
