Moss will play for Pats; Welker won’t

The Patriots will be without slot receiver Wes Welker today in a big game at Gillette Stadium against the Falcons.

Indications earlier in the week were that Welker would be able to overcome his knee injury and go today but he will miss his second straight game.

Meanwhile, Randy Moss -- who showed up on the Patriots injury report with a back problem on Friday -- will play for the 1-1 Patriots as they taken on 2-0 Atlanta. Rookie Julian Edelman is active and will play in Welker’s spot

The Patriots will also go without defensive backs Darius Butler and Jonathan Wilhite. This means that Pats corner Shawn Springs, who may see a lot of time checking Tony Gonzalez, is going to be relied upon heavily. Springs was questionable with a knee injury this week.
