Down goes Stafford

Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford, the first overall pick in the 2009 draft, has left Sunday’s game at Chicago with a knee injury.

Chris Myers of FOX reports that Stafford’s return is questionable.  (With Detroit trailing by 17 and less than six minutes to play, we think it’d be questionable for the Lions to re-insert Stafford.)

Per Myers, Stafford was injured on a sack.  After a soft sleeve was placed on his right knee, he was still in pain while walking.

Daunte Culpepper has replaced Stafford.

  1. This kid is a stud. Hope he’s alright, but it looked like he got that knee twisted around pretty good.

  2. Good thing the Lions broke the losing streak already…..they would have no chance with Fumblepepper starting if it comes to that!

  3. I’ll admit that I thought our oline was playing good up until today, but it’s clear that next years first pick needs to be a top tier OT and if somehow we can’t get one of them, then it has to be a top tier DE.
    Hope he’s not hurt.

  4. Difference the turf in ChiTown makes, on artificial turf this would be much worse. At least the sloppy field gives way when twisted.

  5. I was at the game today. Regardless of the final score the Lions looked pretty good. I think that with Calvin Johnson, Staffordand and Smith thats a pretty good offense in a year or two. The arrow is pointing up for the Lions. GO BEARS !!!

  6. Good lord. The Lions get rid of erybody but keep the special teams coach? WTF!!!
This game was really good until the special teams blew it to start the third. Oh well.
