Jean Jacques-Taylor of the Dallas Morning News writes that WR Miles Austin’s monster day didn’t just make Sunday’s 26-20 victory possible, it may have saved the Cowboys season.
By forcing two stops in overtime, the Cowboys defense finally stood its ground with a game on the line.
DT Jay Ratliff’s block of a 53-yard field goal attempt helped salvage an otherwise miserable game for the Cowboys special teams.
Cowboys LB DeMarcus Ware recorded his first two sacks of the season.
Said Cowboys owner Jerry Jones of QB Tony Romo, “The biggest thing for me, other than winning the ballgame is the play of No. 9 and the way he came back from a down week, a lot of criticism last week, and kept his team in the ballgame.”
Said Chiefs S Jarrad Page, “We just need to win a game. It’s just disappointing that we continue to do things that keep us from winning.”
Chiefs QB Matt Cassel flashed some glimpses of the quarterback they hoped they were getting on Sunday.
When the Chiefs defense wasn’t getting strafed by Austin, they were giving up big plays on the ground to RB Tashard Choice.
A pair of injuries left the already struggling Chiefs offensive line shorthanded in the fourth quarter and overtime.
Chiefs LB Mike Vrabel caught a one-yard touchdown pass which gives him 11 career catches in the regular season and playoffs, all of which have gone for touchdowns.
