Report: Checketts leaving Limbaugh behind

Radio host Rush Limbaugh said earlier today that he has no intention to withdraw his bid to purchase controlling interest in the St. Louis Rams as part of a group that includes Dave Checketts, owner of the NFL’s St. Louis Blues.

Unfortunately for Limbaugh, Checketts feels differently.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Checketts realizes that Limbaugh’s presence as part of the proposed group will doom the bid to failure. And so Limbaugh will be removed.

“I’m not even thinking of exiting,” Limbaugh said shortly after 12:00 p.m. ET.

Limbaugh did not address during Wednesday’s show recent comments from NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell that, while tactful and discreet, made clear that Limbaugh would never have a seat at the NFL ownership table. (Colts owner Jim Irsay was more blunt regarding his disdain for the possibility of approving Limbaugh to become partial owner of the Rams.) Instead, Limbaugh directed his remarks at the media for its role in a smear campaign based on past quotes attributed to him that he denies ever saying.

And so now we’ll wait to see what Limbaugh has to say about the situation tomorrow.
