In Washington, the players want a vote of confidence for Jim Zorn that will probably never come.

“Under no circumstances would I make a change,” Jones said on his radio show Thursday. “We’ve got a chance to get a lot of things done and we’ve got a lot of football left to play and we’ve got some good people that not only can play it, but coach it.”
Dallas is in the middle of their bye week, and it’s obvious that Wade Phillips isn’t on the hot seat, at least during the season. (Then again, Jones gave Terrell Owens plenty of votes of confidence too.)
Phillips is in the final year of a three-year contract, and it’s probably not worth asking Jones the question any more during the season. Since Phillips is the team’s defensive playcaller, he would be especially difficult to replace.
It’s also probably not worth wondering if Phillips will be around next year absent a playoff win.
Phillips has been coaching in the NFL for 32 years, second longest in the league only behind Bill Belichick.
