On the same day that Chargers demoted cornerback Antoine Cason from his position as nickel back, starting cornerback Antonio Cromartie suffered a knee injury.
So maybe Cason won’t be on the bench for long.
For now, Cromartie’s injury is being described as a “tweak,” per Kevin Acee of the San Diego Union-Tribune. But he’s going to have an MRI, which means that there’s a chance that the news won’t be great for the Chargers, who play at Kansas City on Sunday.
The team also is dealing with a minor flu outbreak. Four players, including running back LaDainian Tomlinson, missed practice on Thursday.
Though it’s not known whether the other three have H1N1, there’s a good chance that L.T. is suffering from the strain known as “that’s what you get for taking me out on third down near the goal line.”
