Bart Scott wants to hurt Chad Henne

It’s amazing what beating a hapless Raiders team can do to restore the roar of Rex Ryan and his band of pro-wrassler.

Though Ryan hasn’t been pounding his chest this week (then again, there’s two days until kickoff), guys like safety Kerry Rhodes and defensive end Shaun Ellis have been chirping about the Dolphins.

Rhodes complained that the Dolphins acted like they had won the Super Bowl when beating the Jets earlier this month; as a reader has pointed out, the Jets behaved the same way after beating the Patriots in September.

Now, linebacker Bart Scott — whose “mad backer” moniker would be a great WWE name — has declared that he hopes to injure Miami quarterback Chad Henne on Sunday.

I hope to get him out of there,” Scott said Thursday, per Rich Cimini of the New York Daily News.

So does that mean what it appears to mean, that Scott hopes to hurt Henne?  “I want to hit him
and get him out of there,” Scott said.  “That’s for anybody who touches the football,
period.  It’s that type of game.  Write it down however you want to write
it down.  You don’t have to do something dirty to get somebody out of
there.”

Though these words likely won’t prompt a pregame warning letter from the league office, the men in stripes might be watching Scott a little bit closer when he’s in the vicinity of Henne’s knees or noggin.

  1. The Jets have become the new Philadelphia Eagles
from the BUDDY Ryan days. They used to pull this
same kinda sh#t. There were stories of whether or
not they used to put out bounties on specific players
and stuff alot like what the Jets are doing now. Rex
is just taking a page out of his Old Man’s book. And
other than when he was with the Bears, Buddy won
squat. Just like his kid is gonna do.

  2. Bart Scott is listed at 6’2 and 240 lbs. I guess that means that the entire Miami Dolphins offense line (which is much bigger then him) including Jake Long at 6’7 315 lbs. are now on notice to hit Bart Scott and “get him out of there”
Congratulations dummy you just put a bullseye on yourself!

  3. What was it Goodell said?
The NFL is about inclusiveness and unity?
    Happy shiny NFL.

  4. So let me see if I get your logic here Florio…are you saying that every single time a QB has been knocked out of a game it has been because of a cheap shot to the knees or noggin? Sometimes, you are really ludicrous with your conclusions. Bart Scott wants to hit Chad Henne so hard, that he knocks him out of the game. Period. That’s what he said, what he meant, what he implied, and there is NO WAY to take anything else form what he said. He didn’t even come CLOSE to inferring he would like to cheap-shot Henne. Why do you continue to make a story out of nothing…why do you continue to make a mountain out of a freaking molehill?

  5. The jets continue to proove why they are a bunch of lowclass aholes. They beat the raiders and they are back to their trashtalking BS. I hope that lowlife Scott breaks thru the line and Henne takes a play from the movie Longest Yard and fires it into his crotch! Scott has played 7 games and doesn’t have any sacks and he’s talking like a sack machine. You can’t blame their cockiness on a NY/NJ attitude as the Giants are a class organization. I hope the Fins lay a beating on them in front of their fans and laugh at Scott as they leave the field.

  6. So the Jets were talking the crap in June about how they were going to be the big bullies on the block yelling out their greatness with talk. Miami shuts them up by out muscling them and punching them in the face with the Monday night game and what are the Jets doing again? Talking. I guess that’s what Ryan brings, is a bunch of talking. Oh, and is Ryan going to be doing more of his trick plays with fake punts etc?

  7. Somone needs to have his head looked at. This is nothing more than typical B.S., get it? Seriously though, someone needs to look into the possibility of Ryan handing out psychotics to his players.

  8. So does this mean the Jets went from believing Henne was a “Clown quarterback” to now being afraid of him so much that he is the one they want to eliminate from the game? The Jets are laughable and they should worry more about Ronnie and Ricky running the ball down their throat, just like last game!!

  9. A classless comment from a classless player on a classless team led by a classless coach. I don’t even remember hearing his name mentioned in the first game. Was he even there?

  10. Bart Scott: I’m good enough. I’m smart enough. And goshdarnit, people like me.
    Non-story.

  11. Two bigger questions are:
How long does it take for their locker room to clear out when Rex Ryan farts?
And does Ryan’s wife need one of those airline oxygen masks when they have sex so she doesn’t suffocate when he’s on top of her?

  12. You’re full of it, Mike. This is pure bullshit. Obviously, he didn’t say he wants to “hurt” him. I’ve always been on your side, but you’ve lost me here. This is why athletes think that the media is a bunch of pudpounders. Congrats, you’re officially in the group.

  13. Hmmmm I’m sure these comments from Bart Scott SHOULD catch the attention of the NFL hierarchy.
Kinda stupid of Scott (nothing new here…the guy is a dolt )…..now he and his teammates will be watched even closer Sunday and any questionable hit will be called. Not to mention…Jets tacklers may hold back a little for fear of fines and suspensions if one of their hits is deemed questionable.
But hey…that’s Jets football……green, white and stupid

  14. What a scumbag. I hope Bart Scott suffers a dislocated jaw that has to be wired shut.

  16. It’s just a matter of time before one of the Jets players..or Rex Ryan himself…put a “bounty” on an opposing player. We all know it’s coming

  17. Predictable comments from a trash player, playing for a trash coach, and a trash GM and loathesome owner, for the trashiest fan base in the NFL.
It’s a shame that Leon Washington had to be the Jester to go down with a severe season ending injury. He’s one of the few respectable players on that team. I
Amen to the posters hoping for a career ending injury for this guy. He’s nothing more than a low rent street thug who happens to be able to play football. Bad for the league.

This is what Florio said. You went off on the tirade. Talk about making a mountain out of a mole hill. I wonder about our education system when they’re producing people like this.

  19. I can’t wait till after the game to hear the whining, in regards to the refs. He may as well wear a bright red shirt over his uniform because every ref is going to be focused on him.
And all you Jet clowns trying to defend this.. please tell me you wouldn’t be on the other side of this discussion if the upcoming opponent was saying how they were going to get Mark “Dirty” Sanchez “out of there.”
    Save it!

  20. One of these days Bart Scott will awake to the reality that he is now a player on the lowly Jets.

  21. J E T S joke joke joke. These guys talk to much for an average team with all their yapping you would think they were undefeated. As a Bills fan ( no comments I know they suck right now ) I never thought I would root for the fins, but I really hope they beat the hell out of the Jets, and I wouldn’t mind seeing Bart Scott get pancaked a few times as well.

  22. Bart Scott running his mouth after not backing it up the first time? Does Florio have a template for that story line that he can just fill in the details? Kind of like a loud-mouth, overrated LB who never STFU Mad Libs?

  23. I couldn’t hear what Bart Scott said over Rex Ryan’s chewing. Was it important? Has the over-under been established on when that fat f*** Ryan is going to have a heart attack during a game?

  24. Bart Scott is an idiot. You can be sure if he gets anywhere near Henne, the O-line will knock him on his ass, especially Henne’s boy, Jake Long.
I’m not as optimistic as the rest of the Fins fans, I think this game will be tough and hope we will win, but they do have a good team as well. If only they’d just shut their mouths and just play the game.

  25. It’s just a matter of time before one of the Jets players..or Rex Ryan himself…put a “bounty” on an opposing player. We all know it’s coming

    ================
Oh you mean, other than that super bowl ring (XXXV) Rex Ryan already owns, he isn’t going to win squat?
Look, I don’t see why this is an issue. The fact of the matter is, LB’s love to crush people. They don’t shy away from contact, they sure as hell don’t let up on a tackle or a hit. They go full speed, hopingto decleat people.
The only difference between this and Ray Lewis, or any other high profile LB, is that they don’t say “I want to ‘hurt’ people” before the game. They just go out and do it.
So for all the people saying he’s a lowlife or whatever, do you feel that way because he’s talking about it (he’s at least being honest), or do you feel that way because he’s a player for the Jets?
I think Rex Ryan is going to be a pretty good HC, and I wish like hell Dallas had hired him, instead of that fat slob Wade

  27. Hey Bart… if you get your wish, and knock Henne out of the game, guess what you’ll get a double-dose of???
    Wildcat.
The same Wildcat that torched your defense WITH Jenkins in the lineup.
You ain’t in Baltimore anymore. There’s no Ray Lewis to protect your a$s. So I suggest you shut up and play.

  28. Okay, Jets. You can shut up now. You’re embarrassing yourselves. If you played half as good as you trash talk, maybe there wouldn’t be a contest this Sunday. But, now the country’s football fanbase will root for the Dolphins, just so you will (hopefully) STFU. Way to become a target!

  29. This is football…you except a guy whose job is to tackle the quarterback to have these sort of comments. I would rather have a crazy trash talking linebacker with his ability (and don’t say he doesn’t have ability) on my team then someone else.
I don’t know how many of the people out there played sports at any sort of level, but when you get pumped up for a game that you focus on, you make comments. This is football, you want to hit someone as hard as possible to stop them and prevent them from trying again.
I hope Henne gets popped a good one or a dirty one, he is playing away from home, this isn’t south beach no more.
And for the fat jokes about ryan…grow up, his wife is hotter than most girls anyone on his site have been with.

  30. I am a big Chad Henne fan and Miami Dolphin supporter. I think Henne has the potential to be a top 5 quarterback within the next two years.
Despite having no interest in the Jets, I must say with respects to Bart Scott. In hearing this and in watching him play…I want that guy on my team.

  31. Haters keep hatin’, because that’s what makes football fun…
As for the rest of you Jag-Offs who know nothing other than what Florio spoon feeds you, please learn to READ!!!
Scott deliberately says, “You don’t have to do something dirty to get somebody out of there,” and suddenly Florio chalks that up to, “the men in stripes might be watching Scott a little bit closer when he’s in the vicinity of Henne’s knees or noggin.”
Of course Jets fans are going to get P.O.’d! Florio consistently and in this case intentionally stirred the “thug” pot. Hey, they talk a lot more sht then I would like but to basically pawn all you Jag-Offs into thinking Scott is actually going to headhunt or claim a bounty on Henne’s head… you are all laughable!
That is all, and as I said before hater’s (Patsy, Fish, & Boy I Like Losing SB Fans) keep on HATIN’!

  32. Classless idiot JETS players!
I hope he pulls a groin on the excercise bike that would be funny!

  33. I love it when Florio references a commenter in his article, it makes me feel like I can be a little famous too.

  34. I rooted for the Jets last year, but ever since I seen that ugly thing they call a head coach on TV in an interview – runnin his disgusting, fat mouth… now, I hope Dolphins beat them by 1 point and celebrate like lunatics/like they won the Superbowl

  35. at this point i was thinking about some JETS jokes…. 2 reason i let it go
    1) who the hell names their kid Bart???
only worst name i could imagine would be
Scott Scott…or maybe Maggie Scott for a boy
    2) 7 GS 31 tkl 12 ass 0.0 sack 0 ffmbl 0 int
    ==> joke 1
    3) 6yr 48 millions (8 million/yr)
wow chad henne must be shaky right now…only thing scott “hits” are RB that are running and tripping over him

    ?
Ability? He may have ability, but what did he do the last time they met?
I have no problem if someone wants to come out and talk trash, but you better back it up with your play on the field. Whether it is Bart Scott or even Joey Porter. Channing Crowder is one of the biggest idiots. If he played half as good as the trash he talked, we would have a pro bowl middle linebacker, all we have instead is an average idiot at LB.
When you are producing on the field, go ahead and spew all that, but until you do it, eat some of that humble pie and leave the talking to the big boys.
I don’t wish any ill on any players, but wouldn’t it be ironic if Bart Scott gets rolled up on and is out for the season?

  37. It is annoying, but it does make it a little bit more interesting in the P.C correct NFL. I have seen “Personal Foul Taunting” called more than once this year, turning into a p*ssy sport. Taunting is a college level penalty, grown men making sh*tloads of money to play a sport, let em talk smack.

  38. Did anyone expect anything else from the Week 2 Superbowl winning Jesters?
    Classless, just like their coach.

  39. “Bart Scott is listed at 6’2 and 240 lbs. I guess that means that the entire Miami Dolphins offense line (which is much bigger then him) including Jake Long at 6’7 315 lbs.”
Hell, Chad Henne is listed at 6’3”, 230 lbs. Bart should be careful Chad doesn’t hit back.

  40. I respect Bart a good deal, but the Jets have to be the most hypocritical team in a long time. They act like they are the greatest team ever after a good start including beating Tom Brady before he was comfortable being Tom Brady again. Then, they go to South Florida, get punked, and claim it was a gimmick and pout like a little baby. How about this “We got beat by a solid team. We made plenty of mistakes, but we couldn’t stop Ronnie Brown nor Ricky Williams to save our lives. Chad Henne, being in the beginnings to a possibly long career beat us.” No, we got a whole lot of excuses instead. No credit for their opponent beating them.
I’ve never seen a coach handle something that terribly since Gary Barnett nearly cried when Colorado wasn’t allowed to play for the national title with 2 losses but instead sent Nebraska who only had 1 loss. His face on national tv as the BCS announced that his team won the right to get BLOWN OUT by Oregon.
Rex Ryan might want to remember that being a little baby on the sidelines sours the perception that he is a great coach. The Jets need to stop finding excuses for why they lose. Miami beat em, might not happen next time, and then again, it might be worse for the Jets next time. But rather than making excuses, just give credit where it is due. This same Miami team had the Saints on the ropes. The same Saints that might only lose 1 or 2 games till February. If that even.

I love how you tell people to learn how to read and then go off on a stupid tangent that obviously shows that you don’t know how to read yourself, even with the quote in your own post.
For those of you that don’t know how to read, here’s the translation: Bart Scott’s big fat mouth will cause the referees to watch him closely during the game and be more willing to throw a flag in a circumstance where they normally wouldn’t had he not opened his big fat mouth. Get it? GET IT???
I guess I shouldn’t be surprised of what Jets fans say.

  42. Anyone remember the unneccesary roughness penalty that Scott took against New England? The referees accused him of kicking a player even though he didn’t, and it cost the Jets 15 yards. Scott only drew that flag by running his mouth, so the refs were just itching to throw a flag on him. And he clearly hasn’t learned a lesson from it.

  43. nyjunc, because you had to purposefully take out the part about him responding to a question about Sanchez eating hotdogs on the sideline because, not only does it put it in context, it makes your QB look like a doofus? Just a thought.

    haha, seriously.
i don’t wish injuries on anyone, but if there was something that could happen to Scott, Pace, and Ryan that prevents them from talking for awhile, that would be great.
Jets – do you not realize that all your talking just makes everyone else think less of you? It’s one thing to be confident going into a game, it’s another to be flapping the gums constantly in the press. The culture that Ryan is cultivating up there is really crappy – who respects a team that is always talking and not always backing it up? get serious, and get some class guys.
funny that bart scott would indicate he wants to get after henne – what has henne done to him? just seems like an odd target. coincidentally enough, henne is as big as, if not bigger, than scott. exactly how is he going to hurt him?

  46. Scott has a history of specifically naming opposing players he intends to hurt–and then trying to follow through. I can’t swear to it, but I think that as a Raven, I remember him admitting to putting bounties on players. The difference between him and Porter is that Joey talks big and plays hard, but isn’t known as a cheap-shot artist. Scott is.
If nothing else, by opening his big mouth so blatantly, he’s targeted himself in two ways. One, the Dolphins offensive team is going to try to do unto him before he does unto Henne (and good luck with that, Fins, couldn’t happen to a more deserving guy). Two, the refs will be whistle-happy anytime he even whiffs past Henne.
An idiot by any other name is Bart Scott.

  47. This should be a fun game to watch for all football fans. Both teams are chasing the NE Patriots and will need every win. The preperation factor should favor the Fins and the mouth factor goes to the RATS-RATS-RATS by a narrow margin. After last week the NFL could use some competition on the field and less in the media.

  48. nyjunc says:

How come this has a big headline but not Joey Porter saying this about Sanchez:
“I’m trying to worry about how I can get him on the sideline. Maybe with an ice pack or something.”
    http://sec.wbir.com/quote/09AwaIygudeyD?q=Rex+Ryan
    HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!
Apparently only the Jets make the “fake” news!!

  49. See these are the types of comments people should have a problem with. Not Reggie Bush answering a question truthfully. I hope who ever the lead judge is this weekend in the Jets Dolphins game goes up to Scott and says ” I have been made aware of the comments you made this week about taking players especially Chad Henne out of the Game, and Im just letting you know if I see anything that remotely looks like a cheap shot or an intentional personal foul no matter how minor, you will be ejected from the game.” I dont want to see anybody get hurt and I really dont want to see Bart Scott get ejected either, but when you make comments like that you better be prepared for the consquences.
By the way Thank you for mentioning that I pointed out that the Jets made comments about them playing the Pats like it was the Superbowl and how it was funny that now all the sudden they have a problem with the Dolphins doing the same thing.

  50. the fins don’t have any illusions about making the playoffs…. this game will just be about shutting up the Jets collective mouth.
    do work miami

  51. Hey, joey-pickles, I’m surprised you were the only one to mention J-Peezeez comment on NFL Total Access. I saw that too and thought it was a little low-life but we are talking about Joey Porter here.

  52. 1st of all, the Jets made similar comments when playing the Pats, and everyone put on their “know-it-all” hats on, to say the refs were going to call more penalties on us. Well guess what, they didn’t. Brady was knocked down almost 23 times that game, not one of them being a sack, mind you. Not one of those being a penalty. So all you babies who think the refs are going to call games any different than they usually would, need to come back to reality. Wake up and stop soaking up Florio’s piss articles.

  53. Bart Scott is a dick. Nobody likes a big mouth. For example, even Giants fans hate Antonio Pierce. It’s only a matter of time until Scott is the most hated defender in the league. What an asshole. This guy is one of the biggest reasons I hate the Jets this year

  54. the phins have traditionally responded to stuff like this with a whoopin….. they are already ahead in line control, rushing, wildcat, team attitude…. Jet fans, prepare to be embarrassed
