Green Bay Packers cornerback Al Harris and Kansas City Chiefs linebacker Corey Mays are the latest players to get a letter from the league informing them they’ll be a little lighter in the wallet.
Harris was reportedly fined $5,000 for grabbing the facemask of Browns wide receiver Mohamed Massaquoi in last weekend’s game. Mays was also reportedly fined $5,000 for unnecessary roughness against the Chargers last week.
The end of every week in the NFL brings news of players who have been fined, and this week was no exception. The $5,000 fine was the standard, with Browns linebacker Kaluka Maiava, Panthers running back DeAngelo Williams, Vikings defensive tackle Pat Williams, Vikings defensive back Benny Sapp, Giants running back Ahmad Bradshaw, Giants safety Michael Johnson and Cardinals tackle Levi Brown all getting docked that amount for personal fouls.
Cardinals safety Antrel Rolle wasn’t flagged for a personal foul against the Giants, but he committed a helmet-to-helmet hit that the NFL apparently deemed worse than the run-of-the-mill personal foul, because the NFL fined Rolle $7,500.
The heftiest NFL fine that has been reported this week went to Colts undrafted rookie defensive back Jacob Lacey, who was fined $10,000 for celebrating by sliding in the end zone after returning his first career interception for a touchdown.
