Report: Porter deactivated for not going home

It remains to be seen if Dolphins linebacker Joey Porter becomes “a T.O.” for coach Tony Sparano, but the team will welcome Porter back to practice Monday.

The team won’t reveal the reason for Porter’s deactivation publicly, but NFL Network’s Jason La Canfora reports that Porter’s off-field habits last week were the cause.

Porter reportedly was nursing an injury and feeling under the weather, so he was excused to go home from the facility early. Except that he didn’t go home, and the team learned Porter went “elsewhere.”

For now, both sides appear to be putting the incident in the past. The Dolphins face Carolina in three short days in a battle of former 0-3 teams trying to climb back to .500.

The team’s pass rush hardly missed Porter, so it will be interesting to watch if he gets his usual amount of snaps Thursday.
