Revis-Moss II going Revis’s way thus far

The Patriots are leading the Jets 24-14 in the third quarter, but Jets cornerback Darrelle Revis has gotten the better of Patriots receiver Randy Moss in their much anticipated return bout from Week 2.

Moss had four catches for 21 yards in the first half and was targeted by Tom Brady on nine different plays. There’s been one more incompletion in the second half added to that total. Revis wasn’t directly responsible for all the incompletions, but he’s been standing over the ball and following Moss from the second the Pats break the huddle all afternoon.

There was one exception -- a four-yard touchdown pass that saw Moss use his superior reach to create separation and come down with the score -- but you’d have to give Revis the edge on the scorecards at this point.

Of course, the game is decided by the scoreboard and the Patriots have the edge there. A big reason for that has been the way the Patriots have used Wes Welker. He has nine catches for 148 yards as Revis’s teammates can’t follow his example well enough to shut down the Patriots offense.
