Vikings' Peterson active, Winfield inactive

Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson is active for today’s game against the Chicago Bears.

But in something of a surprise, cornerback Antoine Winfield is inactive. Winfield thought he’d be ready to go after missing the last month with a foot injury, but he’ll need to wait at least another week.

Other than Winfield, the Vikings’ inactives are third quarterback Sage Rosenfels, wide receiver Jaymar Johnson, running back Albert Young, linebacker Erin Henderson, guard Anthony Herrera, defensive end Jayme Mitchell and defensive tackle Letroy Guion.

The Bears’ inactives contained no surprises, with tight end Desmond Clark and linebacker Pisa Tinoisamoa among the players who won’t dress.

  1. Most if not all Viking fans hoped (and prayed) that Winfield would be active for todays game, but IMO it is not that much of a surprise.
Cutler is not that good, so in reality, why take a chance in a game that the Vikings should very easily handle. Cutler has no decent WR’s and is not that big of a passing threat.
Making the Bears think he would be playing is nothing but strategy on the Vikings part.
Watch for Winfield next week against the Cards!

  2. Why are reports from a few hours before a game always so unreliable? Winfield and Cedric Benson were both reported as almost guaranteed to be playing today up until the final report before the game, then all of a sudden they show up as inactive without much warning. Even their coaches were saying they don’t see any reason why they won’t play. So annoying.
