Freeney, Mathis among 10 Colts not practicing

Two days before a Thursday night game that coach Jim Caldwell said all healthy players will play in, 10 Indianapolis Colts sat out practice today.

Among the most noteworthy of those 10 are defensive ends Dwight Freeney and Robert Mathis, who between them have 21 of the Colts’ 30 sacks this season. Freeney has an abdominal injury and Mathis has a quad injury.

However, the Indianapolis Star notes that it’s common for them to get time off, so their absence from the practice field today doesn’t mean they won’t be on the field against the Jaguars on Thursday.

The Colts listed 29 players on Monday’s injury report, and 19 of them were full participants in today’s practice.

In addition to Freeney and Mathis, the 10 who did not participate in practice today were safety Antoine Bethea (foot), running back Donald Brown (chest), defensive tackle Eric Foster (back), safety Aaron Francisco (ankle), wide receiver Anthony Gonzalez (knee), offensive tackle Charlie Johnson (foot), cornerback Jerraud Powers and kicker Adam Vinatieri (right knee).
