Report: Shanahan arrives at Redskins Park

With mounting reports that the Redskins are and have been talking to former Raiders and Broncos coach Mike Shanahan regarding the team’s non-vacant head-coaching position, Dave Feldman of FOX 5 in D.C. reports that Shanahan arrived this morning at Redskins Park.

Per the report, Shanahan was dropped off at approximately 10:00 a.m.

Even if the meeting is somehow unrelated to the possibility of Shanahan coaching the team, the Redskins surely knew that Shanahan’s presence would trigger rampant speculation that, at some point in the next couple of weeks, coach Jim Zorn will resign and, 114 minutes or so later, the vacancy will be filled.

And, surely, they will have complied with the Rooney Rule in the process.

UPDATE: The link to the story is suddenly dead. We’re not sure what it means. But if it means that the FOX 5 story isn’t true, we’d prefer that they merely own up to it. On a lighter note, it gives Mike Wise someone else to bitch about for the last 20 minutes of his show.
