Tapp says he didn’t bite Rodgers

There’s nothing like a heartwarming holiday story to cause the Christmas spirit to really blossom.

Unfortunately, this ain’t one of them.

Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers claims that Seahawks linebacker Darryl Tapp went Jo(h)n Voight on Rodgers’ arm when their two teams played last season.

Tapp has taken to Twitter to state his case: “How can a football player bite another player when he’s wearing a helmet and mouthpiece c’mon ppl let’s be serious here. And of all ppl me?”

Last time we checked, a mouthpiece is, you know, removable. Also, the space created by the facemask allows something the size of, say, an arm to be wedged in between the cage and the choppers.

We’d be more skeptical of Rodgers’ claims but for the images posted by Greg Bedard of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. And even if it wasn’t Tapp’s teeth, the guy apparently did something that prompted Rodgers first to shove Tapp’s helmet into the turf and then to check his arm to make sure it was still attached to his body.
