Cutler, Beason, Spurlock named NFC players of the week

Chicago Bears quarterback Jay Cutler, Carolina Panthers linebacker Jon Beason and Tampa Bay Buccaneers return man Michael Spurlock were named the NFC players of the week.

Cutler had one of his best games in a Bears uniform on Monday night against the Vikings, completing 20 of 35 passes for 273 yards. His four touchdown passes included the game-winner in overtime.

Beason had nine total tackles, a sack and a forced fumble and also knocked down a pass as the Panthers dominated the Giants.

Spurlock returned a punt 77 yards for a touchdown to bring the Bucs to a 17-17 tie with the Saints in the fourth quarter on Sunday. Tampa Bay went on to win the game in overtime.

  1. Beason? didn’t they watch monday nite on defense. Hillenmeyer 17 tackles, 2 deflected passes, the game winning forced fumble. Beat on the play, but stayed with it. who else could you pick.

  2. Well if this doesn’t validate all the national talking heads who said Cutler would bring Chicago back to national football prominance, I don’t know what will.
    I mean c’mon! POW baby!
Who needs first and second round picks when you got a week sixteen POW? What an arm! John Clayton agrees with me.

  3. How about Jonathon Stewart? First 200-yard rusher the Giants have allowed since November 1978. Now in the 1000-yard club along with teammate DeAngelo Williams… can’t believe he was ignored.

  4. Another fantastic move by Morris. Signing Spurlock during the week. This team is getting better under the new coach.
Make a change now to Cower and you can be sure of 2-4 years of losing. Maybe more…
    Yes, I’m serious.
    GO BUCS!

  5. Cutler, wow. Barely completed half his passes, plus a pick, and against the sadsack Vikes yet.
They may as well give out POW with crackerjacks.
I hate the Cowboys but Romo had a better game than Cutler. Must be the sympathy award.

  6. it’s funny, cause i think that’s the first time cutler has ever showed up so late in a season
he’s giving the bears fans false hope for 2010…it’s delicious haha

  7. Cutler was grinning ear to ear after he threw a costly int. How can he be the POW? What an overrated punk this guy is.

  8. just a thought about Cutler laughing after the pick…with cameras everywhere & bloggers ready to pounce nobody puts in context…unless you were there you dont know why he was laughing
its not unusual when someone screws up to laugh at themselves or the situation…releases tension…everyone jumped on this but who was he talking too at the time?
if he was sitting by himself on the bench then the press would say he was pouting…it seems to me one of his main problems this year is how uptight he has been..Monday night he seemed to play loose & enjoy himself
its absurd how the media & bloggers put everything under a microscope…I was hoping however to see a slew of posts from Florio about it…always good for a laugh…but Iguess he got derailed by Cutler’s middle finger
