Foster could start for Texans

Even if the Texans don’t make the playoffs, they have some positives to take from the end of this season.

They finally won a big game against another playoff contender in Miami. And they may have found a running back that can help them in 2010.

Undrafted rookie Arian Foster rushed for 97 yards on 20 carries against Miami, and could start this week against the Patriots. Foster is a 222-pound one-cut runner that fits the Texans system well. He’s surprisingly nimble in the passing game as well.

Foster and Ryan Moats are expected to get most of the carries Sunday.

The Texans need to fix their running game this offseason, but Foster and Steve Slaton should both figure prominently in the team’s 2010 plans.
