Colts player popped for DUI

If the first day of 2010 provides any indication as to the overall quality of the New Year for the Indianapolis Colts, it could be a long one.

Per 6 News in Indianapolis, Colts receiver Tajiddin Smith was arrested Friday for drunk driving.

The police report, according to 6 News, indicates that Smith was pulled over after an officer noticed him “swerving and crossing the center line.” Police also said that Smith “had to pull himself from his car,” and that Smith smelled of alcohol. He then failed a field sobriety test, and his blood-alcohol content was determined to be in excess of the legal limit.

The 26-year-old Smith, who played college football at Syracuse, has spent the season on the Colts’ practice squad after being cut following the preseason. Though 6 News says that Smith “played for a short time” on Sunday against the Jets, the official Game Book does not show that he was on the roster, or that he played.
