Report: David Harris will play

Cedric Benson better study his tape this week: Jets linebacker David Harris is playing.

Harris, the NFL’s ninth-leading tackler this season, has been uncertain to play after suffering an ankle sprain Sunday. But David Hutchinson of the Newark Star-Ledger reports it was only a “mild” sprain and Harris will suit up.

While we’d call Calvin Pace New York’s most important linebacker, Harris is not far behind. The team credits him with 142 tackles, 5.5 sacks and an interception. The NFL, always stingier listing tackles, has him with 127 tackles, good for ninth in the league.

Rex Ryan has tried to keep Harris’ status a secret, but the inside linebacker will be out there. Maybe he can introduce himself to Benson Saturday afternoon.
