Childress says Edwards should be fine

I watched Michael Strahan’s entertaining profile about the Minnesota front four before Sunday’s game and couldn’t help but think that most of America had no clue who Ray Edwards was.

We do now.

No longer just the fourth guy, Edwards put together an insane performance against Dallas before hurting his knee.  He recorded 5 tackles, all for losses, including three sacks and a forced fumble.

Edwards returned to the game briefly after getting hurt in the third quarter, then was out for good.  Coach Brad Childress said he expects Edwards to be fine for the NFC Championship and was taking extra precautions.

“I think he will be OK,” Childress said. “No reason for him to come back in at that point.”

To the victor go the spoils

  1. Chjlly will regret running up the score when they take the field next year and the year following in LA–Hope he buys some rogain in LA–the glare from the TV cameras is terrible

  2. Childress says Edwards should be fine………..
AN absolutely huge, great, dominating game by Edwards. Once the human trip-machine left the game it was over for the Cowboys.
On a related note Cowboy Nation has been admitted to Emergency ward with a sore rectum….Vox has been conspiciously quiet. Typical Cowboy pussy ranters and guys like Brooking…Act tough, yap alot but when push comes to shove vanish and piss and moan.

  3. He was an absolute beast this game. Usually he is quite in terms of sacks, but the guy is a baller. I’ve always hated on him in the past because of that, but the guy can play the run and rush the passer now that he has more experience under his belt. And when he does get his sacks he gets a bunch of them and important ones.

  4. Viking front four played fantastic game today; probably the best of the season. Play that stuck out was Kevin Williams extending nearly vertical in mid air to reach back on a running play. Amazing extension for a DT.
Credit Leslie Frazier and Karl Dunbar for the job they’ve done this season. Jimmy Kennedy, Brian Robison and even Freddie Evans played lights out today.

  5. About time. Guy is single teamed usually and can’t do much. Nice to see him show up big, hopefully he continues it.
Too bad it’ll cost the Vikes when it comes contract time!

  6. This guy had a monster game!!!!
If the defensive line plays this well against New Orleans…………LOOK OUT!
    Vikings roll…………….!

  7. He’s allright we should still draft corners and d-line and what is all this Chilly will be sorry LA talk ?

  8. I was at the game and I didn’t realize Ray Edward’s had 3 sacks. He’s plyed well all year and this was really a break out game for him. Bring on the Saint’s! SKOL!

  9. @schooney
Typical sore loser. Running up the score? Stop us so-called hottest team in the NFC. What you, Keith Brooking, and his overrated group of sore loser teammates fail to realize is that the Vikings didn’t score the 33rd and 34th points of the game to rub the Cowboys’ noses in it, rather, they scored them to send a message down to the Big Easy.
Great job by Ray Edwards! He was on some other sh*t today. Dude loves turf in a dome.

  10. Check out this stat…
Dome home teams are 5-0 in this year’s playoffs.
Outdoor home teams are 0-3 in this year’s playoffs.
Doesn’t look good for Minny or J-E-T-S.

  11. The Cowboys found out Sunday that facing Minnesota’s front 4 was a lot different then facing the Eagles front 4.
What amazes me is Jerry Jones would even consider hiring Jason Garrett as his head coach. He’s the most spastic play caller I have ever seen. Who else would be calling runs that are gashing Minnesota for 7.6 yards a carry on a drive, only to call a ridiculous “Razorback” formation, which lead to a FG? It’s like they do things so good and then get too cute for their own good (they did this against the Eagles too, and had Brown made that INT and the Eagles go up 14-7, that game could have been completely different too).
Bottom line is, the Cowboys lack a leader. It isn’t Romo, and it certainly isn’t Wade Phillips. So what if they won their first playoff game in 14 years. This team has no identity.

  12. Saints should forfeit the game, they have no chance, Packers are done so are the Saints!
    SKOL! Number One!

  13. I just don’t see the Vikings coming up with that level of play on the road vs. the Saints.
As a Pats fan, I only care that the Colts don’t win the SB, which means I don’t have a big fight in the Saints-Vikings game. Having said that, with my luck this year it will be Colts beating either team….

  14. Where has that front four been all year…..domination over Dallas front four. It was so much fun to watch Romo run for his life. Need the same intensity in NO to keep Brees off his game. But…we have to stop being so conservative on offense when we are leading. Keep kicking ass til the end.

  15. Damn, 0-3gle fans are STILL sore after that double ass-whipping? Aren’t you guys used to that stuff yet?

  16. @ SCHOONEY
You obviously dont follow NFL Football so allow me to help you . Jacksonville and Tampa bay are the 2 teams at the top of the list to go to L.A. Its o.k. SCHOONEY footballs just not your thing but i’m sure your good at something other than making yourself look foolish…..????….you are good at something right?

Really?! You are stooping to bashing Eagles fans when your team didn’t show up yesterday?
Dude, your team is in the same spot as they are.
STFU and take it like a man, oh wait, you must be copying your boy Brooking.
Now you can come back with the SB trophy smack talk.
    You are so predictable.

  18. Dallas burning their timeouts with 6 minutes left down by 24 dictated that Minnesota shouldn’t let up. If Dallas thought they were still in the game it was Minnesota’s job to end it. Great game by Minnesota but we all know losing the NFC title game means failure for this team and potentially losing to the Jets in the SuperBowl?? Well that would just be plain Karma for Brent.

  19. It was great all week hearing the Cowboys fans brag up their pass rush. Vikings led the league in sacks while being in the bottom 3rd in terms of blitzing percentage. Obviously a great pass rushing front four.
But all those Cowboys fans ignored the crazy good stats by pointing out that removing 3 of our best games brought our sack total down to average.
Well, you guys got to see why our team has had multiple 6+ sack games this season. The Cowboys pass rush is ayight, but no doubt ours is on a different level right now. Hopefully Ray Ray is good to go in the Big Easy. Rushing Brees and stopping the run is the only way to contain their offense and that is up to our front seven.

I love it that Packer fans are reduced to wishing and hoping every week that the Vikes are going to crumble.
We’ve been hearing train wreck all year long and nothing seems to happen.
Will they win it all? Who knows?
I know this, its a failure every year for 31 teams.
But, Minnesota is in a position to go all the way.
I think if they accomplish the SB win, there are going to be some Packer fans with even more sand in their vaginas……for a long time.
Tears of Packers fans is music to my ears.
I was told all week the Vikes din’t stand a chance, they were outclassed.
This is your worst nightmare Packer fans, it couldn’t happen to a better fanbase, IMO.

  21. “Really?! You are stooping to bashing Eagles fans when your team didn’t show up yesterday?”
You got a problem with a Cowboy fan bashing trash-talking 0-3gle fans at any time, seriously? Are you going to remember your stupid question the next time you’re bashing some trash-talking Packer fans?
“Dude, your team is in the same spot as they are.”
No… YOUR team is in the same spot as they are. 0 Super Bowl wins for the entire Super Bowl era. Of course you don’t want to hear that but sorry man, it’s a fact of life that you have to live with, just like I have to live with the Vikes bouncing the Cowboys yesterday and 0-3gle fans have to live with the Cowboys bouncing them twice within six days. Yeah, I’m gonna bring up the Super Bowl crap and rightfully so. It’s the reason that the games are played in case you’ve forgotten.

  22. But chicken they haven’t won anything yet. A favre season always ends in a train wreck. Im not saying its going to this season but….

The point is Vox, is that past Super Bowls have what to do with this year? Right, nothing!
I’m sure Romo and the boys feel so much better knowing that Aikman and his teams and Staubach and his teams won SB’s years ago.
It’s an idiotic argument. I’m not suprised, you ARE an idiot.
Great you beat the Eagles, what does that have to with yesterday? Other than the fact you ran your big mouth? I fully would expect the Eagles fans to bash you, you deserve it.
Just like IF the Vikes lose, Pack fans will be out in full force against us.
Take the razzing and move on. You asked for it by running your mouth.

Super: I didn’t say they won anything yet.
I said they are in a position to do so.
I just got sick of hearing all year what Favre was going to do, it has been the complete opposite of what every Packer fan has said.
So, if the defense lays an egg, is that a “Favre traiwreck”?
I thought you Packer fans say it’s a team game?
Yet here you are pinning season ending games on Favre again?
    Karma? Please!
You want it to end short of the SB, all you Packer fans do, I don’t think you could live with fact that Favre won them a SB. I think it would kill a lot of that fanbase.
You obviously have not moved on, because you are hoping for the Jets to go further.
Don’t take this post as anger directed at you, it is just my opinion.

  24. “The point is Vox, is that past Super Bowls have what to do with this year? Right, nothing!”
Well yeah, you’d think so, but the reality is that past Super Bowls do have a lot to do with this year. Not on the field, but in perception. For instance, the Vikings have been to and lost 4 Super Bowls, right? Let’s say they beat the Saints and go on to the Super Bowl for a fifth time. Take it from a guy whose team has won more Super Bowls than your team has even been to. The glow doesn’t last long. Actually it seems to last shorter than ever with the way the media operates these days.
It’s not THAT hard to win a Super Bowl in the first place. Just going on averages every team should have at least one by now. The real trick is doing it again. And again. And if you’re lucky, again and again and maybe even again. That’s how legends are built. It’s how legacies are built.
But what happens if the Vikings lose? In a year, would anybody remember that the Vikings were the NFC Champs? Or would they be the guys that set the record for Super Bowl losses? And understand that I’ve extended the Vikings the courtesy of assuming that they’ll beat the Saints in order to get to and very possibly lose another Super Bowl and further cement the only legacy that they’ve ever had as a team.
You got a playoff win. Congrats, but don’t tell me that past Super Bowls have nothing to do with this one. The only people that say that are fans of teams that have never won one.

  25. Bob Nelson, Pervy Harvin and now .VoxVeritas.
I suppose all teams have one.
Why do some people stop maturing at age 13?
You guys are kind of a hoot to read though.

  26. “Take the razzing and move on. You asked for it by running your mouth.”
Uh, no. I’m not just going to just take anything and move on. I’m going to keep on doing as I’ve always done and bash the birdshit out of the 0-3gles and not take shit from anybody. Oh, are you upset that I didn’t curl up into a ball and disappear like all of these 0-3gle fans have for the past two weeks, like they always accuse others of doing? I ran my mouth because the Cowboys kicked the shit out of them in three games, that’s how it works. Are you new to this whole trash-talking thing?

  27. “So, if the defense lays an egg, is that a “Favre traiwreck”? ”
And yeah, it is. Just like it’s Romo’s fault when the Cowboys D lays an egg. Perception, grasshoppa.

  28. Super: I didn’t say they won anything yet.

I dont care who wins the super bowl this year. I am a big believer in karma and what favre did to the jets was not cool. I hoping its those two teams because I believe his departure story will all come out in the two weeks leading up to the game. Green Bay shipped Favre for a reason. The very reason you will see this offseason. But him finagling his way to Minnesota with 2 years left on his deal in NY is Bush League. And Mr Karma knows that

  29. If the defense lays a egg you can look for a 4 or 5 int game from Favre. Green Bay’s d layed a egg and a cool calm Arod led them back to overtime. never would have happened with Favre.

The jets did not have to release him, but they did.
Why all the venom for just Favre?
Teddy teabag was outfoxed plain and simple.
That is too bad that you and other Packer fans can’t get over that.
Putting a draft pick stipulation on the trade isn’t bush league?
He was afraid what happened this year, would have happened last year. Nice confidence in your team, Ted.

You are not only predicting the future on another thread, but predicting what “would have happened” with Favre in there?
All you packer fans have predicting trainwreck from the start and you keep getting proven wrong.
Super, your crystal ball has surpassed mine for how wrong you have been lately.
Cool, calm AROD?! you mean the one who hung onto the ball way too long and fumbled the game away? That calm, cool, collected guy?

  31. Cool, calm AROD?! you mean the one who hung onto the ball way too long and fumbled the game away? That calm, cool, collected guy?

Yep Him. My crystal ball hasnt been wrong because I cant predict the future nor will I try with the one exception about Rodgers winning 3 NFL Titles. That WILL happen and you WILL remember this prediction.

  32. Weren’t you the guy who predicted a “deep run” in the tournament this year?
Werent you also the same gentelman handing out 5-1 odds on the cards/pack game?
I at least get one right every once in awhile.
I’d like to talk to you off site about this. It involves a me taking money from you.
No way he gets 3…NO WAY!

  33. yep that was me…i am right 75 percent of the time. You all thought I was crazy when I said Green Bay would make the playoffs. That in itself is enough satisfaction for me. No need for the run. Yes 3. At LEAST. You would be interested in this interview. Ill get it to you.
