Report: Jones likely to extend Phillips’ deal

Last Saturday, a loss by the Cowboys likely would have resulted in a decision by owner Jerry Jones not to pick up the option on the fourth and final year of Wade Phillips’ deal.

Now, Jones apparently is ready to keep Phillips for 2010, and beyond.

Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that Phillips is now in line for a two-year extension.

In our view, no final decisions will be made until the team’s playoff run ends. And if they’re embarrassed today (which is unlikely), Phillips might still have to sweat out his fate for 2010.
