Martindale a candidate for Broncos job

Mike Nolan barely was out of Denver before reports surfaced that Dean Pees was “likely” to be the next defensive coordinator of the Broncos.

The Denver Post reports that at least one more candidate will be considered. Broncos linebackers coach Don Martindale could get the job. Both men would likely be open to listen to Josh McDaniels’ plea to blitz less.

One factor to consider here is Pees’ health. The 60-year-old has had multiple health scares in the last year, and he didn’t rule out retirement when he left the Patriots last week.

“It’s time for my wife and I just to sit back now, and not commit to anything,’' Pees said at the time.

McDaniels may need for Pees to commit to something fairly soon.
