Favre pulls out of Pro Bowl, too

Vikings quarterback Brett Favre, with an assortment of injuries that have turned most of his body the color of his helmet, has backed out of the Pro Bowl, as expected.

Taking his place will be Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo.

Romo will be joined by cornerback Mike Jenkins, who replaces Vikings cornerback Antoine Winfield.

The Cowboys now have nine players on the NFC team, which will be coached by Wade Phillips and the rest of the Dallas staff.

So it’s basically the Cowboys versus the AFC South all-stars.

  1. I will miss Pat Williams…down to earth brother!
What’s with the author of this article(e.g.Florio),,,he writes like s he not happy about how his life is turning out..

  2. America’s Team…wouldn’t have it any other way. The only way the Cowboys could get more ratings than what they get already nation wide…sign Brett Favre. I dont think even Americas Team can save the pro bowl from terrible ratings. Unless everyone bets on it.

  3. The only thing bruised is Favre’s ego and his diva act…….
He didn’t miss a series because of the ankle and certainly wasn’t bothered by it when he rolled out and threw the pick.

  4. Jenkins should have been in all along and Romo should have gotten in over McNabb. McNabb wasnt an all-pro, pro bowler or anything.

  5. Mike Jenkins did have a good year especially, in December and January, when it mattered most. But, with his iron man work ethic and experience, Sheldon Brown should have taken Winfield’s place. BTW Winfield should never have been voted in to begin with. Anyway, Sheldon and Jenkins had virtually identical seasons but give the nod to a second year man instead of an 8 year man who has never missed a game and plays consistently well year in and year out. Sheldon is going to become the next London Fletcher, a above average player who never gets the recognition and accolades he deserves.

  6. Jenkins? he’s garbage. Score another one for the showboaters “look at me look at me”. This is why good players like London Fletcher have to wait years and years to get a Pro Bowl nod.

  7. its been a long time since i have seen a nfl qb take as many hits as he did sunday night. he got lit up!

  8. Homo and Mcscab two more aholes that do not own rings
Lets get that assclown from DC next
There is only one good QB in the NFC east and he is Paytons little brother

Hey dumbass, did ya think that maybe the ankle hurting is what stopped him from tryin to run? DOH!

  10. Favre pulls out of Vikings, too.
    “It’s just that I can’t stand a team’s company right after I just f@#$%^ them…”
That’s what yall get. Minnehaha, when yall go looking for mr. goodfavre.

  11. In a defensive struggle like the Pro Bowl, Bert does not want to run up the score…too bad, I think the Pro Bowl Interception record is the only one he does not have…

  12. I beleive there are 9 Eagles in the pro bowl also so lets call this the NFC East Vs The AFC South!!!

  13. “Favre on the ground, Favre on the ground, Nothing nearly as funny, as Favre on the ground!” “Favre on the ground, Favre on the ground, another interception to end his career, Lookin like a fool with his Favre on the ground!”

  14. “The only thing bruised is Favre’s ego and his diva act…….”
Totally. The guy only got drilled by 300 pound linemen like 20 times yesterday. How could that hurt.
I wish football players were as tough as you, Krashie.

  15. I guess all of the fan voting in Minnesota for all of those “deserving” Vikings for the Pro Bowl was just a waste of time. They did not make it to the Superbowl and they are all bowing out after the loss last night. Not surprising really.
Why is this game even played again, and why is it in Miami the week before the Superbowl??

  16. So doesn’t this mean that Aaron Rodgers will star the pro bowl? Breese was #1 then Favre # 2 and Rodgers was #3.

Rumor is he is pulling out of Chilly after dinner.
    ————————————————–
You f@cking idiot, that made me laugh. LOL

  18. There’s so many guys opting out of the Pro Bowl it wouldn’t surprise me to read that Jamarcus Russell were going to get the start.

  19. I have to put up with Favre’s crap all year and now that I think its over, he pulls out of the Pro Bowl and lets romo in? Seriously, who votes for these people?!?! I hate you Favre, the only good thing you did all year was knock the cowboys out of the palyoffs…

  20. Brett favre needs to retire. He must be scared of getting upstaged by Rodgers again. 2 years as a starter and he’s already better than Brett Favre ever was. Now all favre can do is just sit back and watch Manning take all his records.

  21. Is the NFL “picking” these guys or are they just going down the list based on Pro Bowl voting numbers?
I think it’s the latter, so all of you can stop saying who deserved what…it’s the fans who decide.

  22. “There is only one good QB in the NFC east and he is Paytons little brother ”
Ya, it’s every QB’s dream to average more than one INT per game started with 57.0 career completion percentage.

  23. “This is why good players like London Fletcher have to wait years and years to get a Pro Bowl nod.”
No, that’s because while solid, he’s rarely if ever been one of the best ILB’s in his conference.

  24. “(Favre) must be scared of getting upstaged by Rodgers again. 2 years as a starter and he’s already better than Brett Favre ever was. ”
Honest to God truth: It’s hard sometimes to tell if you guys are being intentionally stupid or not. One would hope so.

  25. Romo should have turned them down since they picked the affirmitive action darling McFlab over him.

  26. Eli sucks. His numbers and performance this year was only better than one qb in the NFC East this year…… Jason Campbell. Romo by far had the best stats in the division, & went the farthest. McNabb second. Whether you go by individual stats, or by team stats. To say otherwise, is just being a hater.

  27. The only thing bruised is Favre’s ego and his diva act…….
Why are they calling it the Pro Bowl? Practiclly every starter has been replaced! They should call it the Semi-Pro Bowl!

  28. Awww isn’t that cute……the Cowboys win their first playoff game in 13 years and they think they’re in a position to talk smack. LOL. Eli has 3 more playoff wins and one more ring than Tony Homo will ever have.

  29. Brett Favre did exactly what Ted Thompson got rid of him for. ESPN replayed the INT exactly 25 times in the 5:00 hour today.
It is a giddy day in Wisconsin, with people smiling everywhere. Prolly the polar opposite in the twin cities and some of their trash talking losers still talk shit.
And the final irony is Aaron Rodgers is your starting Pro Bowl QB!!!

How does that empty title feel? Couldn’t be that satisfying was it? I mean,we pounded the ball on you all day.

  31. pounded the ball on the damn ground, u mean…
if u want to play hoops, go play hoops elsewhere…

  32. Packer fans, how was it watching the nfc championship game from your television set, knowing that your green bay packers were doing the same. While the vikings were actually playing in it. Oh and how did it feel to take a couple of beatdowns this past season at the hands of Brett Favre and the vikings. You can talk smack all you want and I know you will because your very predictable that way. Ive always admired Favre, even when he played in green bay, but after watching him this season, and thru the playoffs, especially against the saints, I admire him even more. He is a man who loves the game, wheres his emotions on his sleeve, he is warrior, and an iron man the way he took that beating in the saints game and kept coming back for more. He is one tough SOB. And then just about won the game in the end. Like they said on espn, the saints didn’t win this game, the vikings lost it and the blame goes to the hole team not just Brett Favre!

  33. @Pervy
You lost Bro…..no matter how you slice it….no matter what stat you put out there……AP has a severe fumbling problem and Favre was his old self….chucking picks!!!!!
    YOUR TEAM LOST PERVY…..GO AWAY!!!!!!
    SKOL VIKINGS………….LOL
WHO DAT’S GOING TO MIAMI AND PLAYING IN A REAL GAME!!
**all that “pants on the ground” $hit isn’t that funny now huh????

  34. Statistally the vikings killed the saints! The better team did not win this game. The colts will crush the saints!

  35. Just like yesterday It`s because of stupid decisions and poor game management in the playoffs that the Packers got rid of Favre. 12 men in the huddle, didnt know how far they needed for a field goal and the poor pass against the grain interception. Good move Ted Thompson

  36. Im confused Antoine Winfeild was the 1st replacement and Sheldon Brown was the 2nd so how did Jenkins get ahead of Brown? The only thing I can think of is Brown declined.

  37. Occam…….
Favre took more than his share of shots, there’s no doubt about that, but, he should be given an Academy Award for the limping and the gyrating, considering he never missed a down because of the ankle.
And, if the ankle was so bad, why would the Vi-Queens call a roll-out on the INT????
Favre’s a poser and he always will be.

  38. The most overrated player to ever play the game got his ass kicked last night! What a way to go out, getting beaten up AND single handily losing the game by not running and throwing a pass that a rookie would!
Please let this clown just FINALLY go away!

  39. Instead of The Pro Bowl, they should cal it “The Sub Bowl”. The NFL could also get Subway to sponsor it. What a joke of a game.

…Eli has 3 more playoff wins and one more ring than Tony Romo will ever have….
    $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
…He also had 450 LESS yards and 5 MORE picks than Romo THIS year….and of course… that DAZZLING win loss ratio after the 5-0 start to guide them OUT of the tournament

  42. Cool!
Jenkins should have been in anyways.
and Romo should have been before McNabb of course.
    NFC QB’s
    1.Brees
    2.Favre
    3.Rodgers
    4.Romo
    GO COWBOYS!

  43. I totally agree with Krashie21 – Favre deserves some kinda award for his theatrics. Notice how he limped after each crappy play, but not after the decent ones? He didn’t limp at all during plays – if he was in serious pain he wouldn’t have been able to pick and choose when to show it.

  44. I CAN’T BELEIVE YOU PICKED ANOTHER QB OVER ME NOW I WANT TO PLAY
IF I CAN’T PLAY I WILL QUIT AND PLAY IN CANADA
    SIGNED
    BRENTENEY
P.S JUST GIVE US THE LOMBARDI PERVY THINKS WE DESERVE IT AND SINCE HE IS THE BEST TAINT MASSEUSE I’VE EVER HAD I AGREE WITH HIM
HE TAINT HEAVY HE’S MY PERVY

  45. Did Adrian “LLLLLLEEEEEETTTTT’S GET READY TO FUMBLLLLLLLLLLEEEEE” Peterson pull out yet? lol

  46. Looks like Aaron Rodgers will start the Pro Bowl now that Drew Brees will be preparing for the Super Bowl while Favre drops out like he does every year.

  47. this pro bowl has been a big dissapointment, having it before the super bowl was a joke, look at all the guysnot showing, the nfl blew it on this one,
