UFL could be moving to Sacramento

The upstart UFL is reconsidering the wisdom of putting teams in markets already serviced by the NFL.

As a result, the team currently headquartered in San Francisco could be moving up the road to Sacramento, according to Matthew Barrows of the Sacramento Bee.

Commissioner Michael Huyghue said Monday that the UFL plans to make an announcement next month, when the deal is finalized.

If/when it happens, the current nickname -- Redwoods -- will be changed. And the games would be played at Sacramento State’s Hornet Stadium, which will be switched from grass to an artificial surface.

And the good news is that the venue has only 22,500 seats, which will create the illusion that the UFL draws better than a winless WNBA team.
