Toxicology tests find no additional factors in Gaines Adams’s Death

The chief deputy coroner of Greenwood County, South Carolina announced Wednesday that toxicology tests performed on Bears defensive end Gaines Adams found no additional factors that contributed to his death on January 17th.

Two previous autopsies found that Adams went into cardiac arrest as a result of an enlarged heart. There will not be any further investigation into Adams’s death.

Chief deputy coroner Marcia Kelley Clark told the Greenville News that his family has yet to be told all the details of the State Law Enforcement Division’s report of his death, but that there were no findings which contradicted the initial ruling. The report will be released after it is reviewed by the pathologist who performed the procedure.
