Mike Reiss of ESPNBoston.com points out that cornerback Leigh Bodden has made an agent change that could result in Bodden signing a new deal with the Patriots.
Last year, agent Alvin Keels negotiated a one-year, $2.25 million deal between Bodden and the Pats. At the time, New England had offered a longer-term deal.
Bodden thereafter parted ways with Keels. Per Reiss, Bodden has now re-hired Keels, which could be interpreted as a hope by Bodden that Keels will be able to resume talks aimed at a multi-year deal.
Bodden’s current contract prevents the Patriots from using the franchise tag on the veteran corner in 2010. Though it’s not clear that the Pats would be willing to offer him a one-year deal worth $9.566 million, Bodden was a key contributor in 2009, participating in 82 percent of the snaps and picking off five passes.
