Agent says Mawae "definitely" heading to market

340x.jpgAs the NFL Players Association prepares for the first uncapped year since 1993, the president of the NFLPA will be one of the men jockeying for some of the unfettered cash.

Per Jim Wyatt of the Tennessean, agent Mark Bartelstein says that Titans center Kevin Mawae “will definitely hit the market.”

Bartelstein isn’t ruling out a return by Mawae to Tennessee, but as Wyatt points out it appears that Mawae would be a backup with the Titans.

Mawae, 39, has spent four seasons in Tennessee, starting all but three games.  The 16-year veteran started his career with four seasons in Seattle, and then spent eight years with the Jets.

Mawae is a seven-time Pro Bowler, and he has been named a first-team Associated Press All-Pro three times, most recently in 2008.

The Titans recently signed guard Eugene Amano to a five-year, $25.7 million contract.  The thinking is that either Amano or Leroy Harris will play center in 2010, with the other one playing guard.
