Shanahan expects Campbell to remain with Redskins

New Redskins coach Mike Shanahan told reporters today at the NFL scouting combine that he expects restricted free agent quarterback Jason Campbell back with the team in 2010.

“I do expect him to be here,” Shanahan said.

We assume by “here,” Shanahan meant with the Redskins and not in Indianapolis.

Rumors have been swirling that Campbell could be heading elsewhere, perhaps in a trade with Buffalo, but Shanahan has always indicated that he expects to have Campbell back for at least one more season.

Speaking of Buffalo, Shanahan said one reason he found the Redskins job more appealing than the Bills job is that his wife doesn’t like the Buffalo weather.

Shanahan also said his son, offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan, will call the plays on offense.
