Snyder responds to report of $600,000 alligator desks

The folks at Page 6, the gossip section of the New York Post, report that Redskins owner Daniel Snyder recently plunked down $600,000 for two alligator leather desks with matching alligator-skin chairs.

And the report is more than mere gossip. The guy who owns the new Giorgio’s of Palm Beach store on Madison Avenue said that the order had been placed, and that the furniture would be delivered in six weeks.

Snyder has responded to the report, about which we likely would never have known but for the denial.

“The story is crazy,” Snyder said in a release from the team. “I don’t even own a pair of alligator shoes.”

Team COO Dave Donovan said that the team is “demanding a retraction” from the Post. (The Redskins also should demand that the guy who owns the store set the record straight -- or settle any legal claims, via payment in the amount of two alligator leather desks with matching alligator-skin chairs.)

Making the dynamics a bit more interesting is the fact that the guy who owns the Post also owns FOX, the network that televises the NFC package of Sunday afternoon games.
