Rams close to deal with A.J. Feeley

We still don’t know who the St. Louis Rams’ starting quarterback will be this season. But we may have learned today who their backup will be.

Our old friend Aaron Wilson tweeted, and Rams Billy Devaney “pretty much confirmed” in a radio interview, that the Rams are close to a deal with free agent quarterback A.J. Feeley.

Feeley was most recently under contract with the Panthers, but he never played in a game for Carolina. He last got on the field in the regular season in 2007, when he started two games for the Eagles. He’s also played for the Dolphins.

The 32-year-old Feeley has been a backup to Donovan McNabb before, and it’s possible that he could be be a backup to McNabb again in 2010. Or he could be a backup to Marc Bulger, Michael Vick, Sam Bradford or whoever else the Rams have under center.
