Wade lands with Lions

Cornerback Jonathan Wade is the latest addition to the Detroit Lions, according to a league source.

Wade lasted only three seasons in St. Louis despite getting taken in the third round of the 2007 draft.  Wade has plenty of speed and can play in the press coverage that coach Jim Schwartz prefers.

Detroit has been among the most aggressive teams this offseason, adding Kyle Vanden Bosch, Corey Williams, and Nate Burleson.

  1. Checkmate. “Detroit has been among the most aggressive teams this offseason.”
When has a sportswriter ever said that about the Lions. Maybe the Red Wings, but never the Leos.

  2. and chris houston, lions are doing better than the redskins i mean bears sorry the bears have been acting so much like them lately. I love to see the Bears screw themselves trade for a guy that throws more to the other team then his own and has an awful attitude promote the worst head coach in history to a position he has never had and to top it the overspend on a guy past his prime and a running back thats a backup. And no draft picks you have to build through the draft haha I love the bears they will be cleaned out next offseason Urlacher is awful now and a girl couldnt play with a broken wrist heard of a club? People used to use them all the time before this league turned so nancy on us. Their D is old O line sucks they end up last in the division with the Lions in third

i think because he had decided to come back after they had already shipped the games out

As for this signing. This is to pad for depth, not a starting calibre player.
He’ll be brought in for competition but will be lucky to make the final 53 man roster or the 45 dressed on Sunday. He won’t even see the playing field until Detroit is rattled with injuries around week 8 or so. Then he’ll be thrown to the wolves with a starting spot and fail something awful.
