Virginia cornerback Chris Cook did not impress his potential future employers at the big job interview known as a Pro Day.
NFL Network’s Mike Mayock said on NFL Total Access that Cook “got winded” during position drills, which is a red flag. SI’s Tony Pauline wrote last week that coaches had to “coax Cook to pick up the tempo.”
Cook is a terrific size/speed combination and he was one of the standouts at the Scouting Combine with a 4.46 and the best broad jump at his position. He’s usually been projected as a second-round pick.
If anything, Cook’s big combine numbers make Cook’s pro day performance look worse.
Either Cook didn’t take his pro day seriously or he wasn’t ever truly in good shape to begin with.
