Chan Gailey knows nothing about Marshawn Lynch’s absence

Buffalo Bills running back Marshawn Lynch didn’t show up today at the start of the team’s voluntary workout program. Head coach Chan Gailey doesn’t know why.

I don’t know anything about that,” Gailey told the Buffalo News.

It’s unclear how well Lynch will fit in Gailey’s offense. Fred Jackson leapfrogged Lynch on the depth chart last season, and Gailey has talked about wanting to draft a “185-pound or 195-pound, quick-as-a-cat water bug.” The Bills may also have interest in drafting Clemson running back C.J. Spiller.

Regarding Lynch, Gailey said, “Our general manager, Buddy Nix, has talked to him but I have not talked to him.”

There’s not much the team can do about Lynch’s absence, but, Gailey says he wishes the whole team would attend voluntary workouts.

“You want everybody in the boat,” Gailey said. “That’s the bottom line in this business. If you get everybody together and headed in the same direction you give yourself a much better chance to win. Are there extenuating circumstances with a lot of people and a lot of situations out there? Sure there are. But if you get everybody together and headed in the same direction, you give yourself a much better chance to win.”
