Giants take a look at Deon Grant

The Giants aren’t done trying to improve their safety position.

After making a big splash by adding Antrel Rolle in free agency, Mike Garafolo of the Newark Star-Ledger reports that former Seahawks safety Deon Grant will pay the team a visit Thursday.

The “signs are positive” that Grant could quickly sign a deal during his visit.

The Giants want more depth in case Kenny Phillips’ recovery from his knee condition doesn’t go smoothly.  We’re not surprised Grant, 31, is getting interest.

He was a decent player for the Seahawks, just not decent enough to be worth $11 million over the next two years.

  1. Still amazed that Deon Grant has started every game in the last 10 years. I appreciate his time here in Seattle. He was voted a captain before he even played a game here. I met him once, very nice guy.
“Grant, 31, was a second-round pick in 2000. Remarkably, in the last 10 NFL seasons, he has started every single game.”

  2. Great call Reese!! We dont know how healthy Kenny is going to be and even if he comes back 100% it still gives him time to build up strength and get his knee used to the grind of football. Someone said the other day, that we should still consider another safety because if Antrel went down we would have to go back to C.C Brown or Michael Johnson, so now we dont have to do that. Reese learned from his mistake, not having enough depth at safety and thats the best thing you can do is learn from your mistakes, dont be Matt Millen! lol

  3. this will be a nice depth signing. Reese coming from out of nowhere to make a solid depth move ahead of the draft in a few weeks.
you are earning my trust back piece-by-piece, Jerry.
