Flozell Adams and Ken Hamlin to be released Friday

Flozell the Hotel is closing in Dallas.

Todd Archer of the Dallas Morning News reports that the Cowboys will release the five-time Pro Bowl tackle Friday. Safety Ken Hamlin will also be released, according to Hamlin’s Twitter account.

Jerry Jones has plenty of money, but he’s making smart cost-cutting moves here. Adams was not worth $7.5 million this season, especially with a good young option like Doug Free on the team.

Hamlin wasn’t worth half of his scheduled $5.596 million. The safety made the Pro Bowl in 2007, but has been a huge disappointment since signing a big contract after that season. His missed tackles and poor angles led to a ton of long touchdowns against the Cowboys.

Hamlin will make $1.09 million from Dallas because part of his salary was guaranteed.

The Cowboys have the money to make some expensive mistakes, but they are smart here to cut their losses. Roy Williams should take note.
