If the Eagles are successful convincing another team to take on the Michael Vick Project, the team will have to replace him on the roster. Jeff Garcia wants to be the man to do so.
Les Bowen of the Philadelphia Daily News writes Garcia has “tossed his helmet into the ring” and Bowen wouldn’t be surprised if Garcia ended up back in Philly if Vick is dealt.
That all makes a lot of sense. Calling Garcia the “ideal mentor to Kevin Kolb” doesn’t.
Garcia’s career, with Philadelphia the possible exception, is filled with unhappiness and angling to start when he was on the bench. We’ve never quite understood why Garcia has received a free media pass for much of his career for clashing with management from San Francisco to Detroit to Cleveland to Tampa Bay.
If Garcia wants to return to Philadelphia, we suspect it’s because he thinks he could possibly start again should Kolb falter.
