Henne glad to have Marshall “rather than drafting a young guy”

Heading into the offseason, it was clear the Miami Dolphins wanted to upgrade at wide receiver, perhaps by taking one in the first round of the draft. Quarterback Chad Henne is glad the Dolphins instead decided to improve at receiver by trading for Brandon Marshall.

“It’s great to have a veteran guy rather than drafting a young guy and developing him. We’re pretty excited,” Henne said, per Edgar Thompson of the Palm Beach Post. “He definitely brings a lot to the table and we can really revolve our offense around that.”

Marshall has a history of getting into off-field trouble, but Henne said he’s not particularly concerned about that.

“I mean everybody says there’s off-the-field issues and I think everybody has off-the-field issues,” Henne said. “But under this organization I think we’ll be fine and as long as he comes on Sunday and plays we’ll be happy.”

It’s true, I suppose, that everybody has off-the-field issues, although not everybody has off-the-field issues involving arrests and suspensions, which Marshall has. Ultimately, though, Henne is just happy about what Marshall can do on the field.

“His size definitely stands out and I think just the way he goes up and gets the ball, it’s his ball in the air when you throw it up there,” Henne said. “When he gets yards after catch he’s not looking to run out of bounds, he’s more going after the corners because he’s 6-foot-4 and a lot of guys are scared of him out there in the open field.”
