Buccaneers cornerback Aqib Talib, a player whose pre-draft red flags have culminated to date in, among other things, allegedly punching the driver of a yellow cab, has been approved for a pretrial intervention program aimed at resolving pending assault charges. The news was first reported by JoeBucsFan.com on Monday.

The intervention program will include a stint in anger management. If he complies and stays out of trouble for a year, the charges will be dropped.

That said, it won’t be enough to keep him out of trouble with the league under the Personal Conduct Policy, whose first NFL issue arose when he fought with a former teammate at the Rookie Symposium in 2008.
