The Patriots have a history of inviting collegiate wrestlers to camp in hopes of uncovering a gem, Stephen Neal came via this route, and will try it again with John Wise of Illinois. Wise played two years as a defensive tackle at Western Illinois before transferring to the Big Ten school where he wrestled. He told WGEM-TV of Quincy, Illinois that he’ll be at the team’s mini-camp next week.
Also signing with the Pats are Pat Paschall, RB, North Dakota State; Dane Fletcher, DE, Montana State; Bryan Anderson, WR, CMU; Sergio Brown, S, Notre Dame; Kyle Love, DL, Mississippi State and Ross Ventrone, S, Villanova. Ventrone’s older brother Ray was with the Patriots from 2006-2008 and is currently with the Browns.
