Cardinals give Justin Miller a tryout

A 26-year-old free agent who’s been to a Pro Bowl would ordinarily be expected to have plenty of offers from NFL teams. But in the case of Justin Miller, the best he can do is get invited to a minicamp on a tryout basis.

The Arizona Cardinals’ web site says the team will bring in Miller for a minicamp tryout.

Miller was the the Jets’ second-round pick in 2005 and the AFC’s Pro Bowl kick returner in 2006. But he suffered a season-ending knee injury in September of 2007 and hasn’t been the same player since then. He played in just two games in 2009, one for the Jets and one for the Raiders.

The Cardinals’ web site also says the team will contact the agent for guard Alan Faneca, but that he isn’t likely to sign with Arizona.
