Myron Rolle knows he’s better than a lot of players drafted before him

Myron Rolle, the Florida State Seminole turned Rhodes Scholar turned Tennessee Titan, seems like too nice a guy to walk around with a chip on his shoulder.

But as he embarks on his NFL career, Rolle does seem motivated by the fact that he was a sixth-round draft pick even though he believes strongly that he has something more than sixth-round talent.

“There were a lot of guys who were taken ahead of me that I know I’m better than,” Rolle said, per Jemele Hill of ESPN.com.

There’s been a lot of talk that NFL coaches question whether Rolle will be committed to football or whether he’ll be more interested in pursuing a career as a doctor or scientist, and even some talk that Rolle “deserted” the Florida State football team when he enrolled at Oxford. Rolle says he doesn’t know how much that affected his draft stock, but he does know that he’s disappointed by where he ended up being taken.

“I came into the draft thinking pragmatically that the first or second day wouldn’t be my day,” Rolle said. “I thought the third day would be my day, but I didn’t expect to be the last pick in the sixth round.”
