On Wednesday night, Saints quarterback Drew Brees participated in teammate Heath Evans’ charity softball game. Before the Saints faced a group of military all-stars, the real fireworks from Brees came during a Home Run Derby.
Brees bashed long balls from both sides of the plate. (Our friends at SportingNews.com have some of the video.)
“What did you expect?” Evans told James Varney of the New Orleans Times-Picayune. “He’s the Super Bowl MVP. This is cake for him.”
But, alas, the Madden curse possibly has begun to take root for Brees. At the plate with the Saints trailing by one, 18-17, Brees popped out to end the game.
Somewhere, our friend Paul Allen yelled, “This is not Detroit!”
