Patrick Crayton wants out of Dallas

The crowded Dallas receiver group has Patrick Crayton wanting to leave.

Calvin Watkins of reports that Crayton has stopped working out with the Cowboys in hopes of getting dealt.  The moment Dez Bryant was drafted, speculation started regarding whether Roy Williams or Crayton would be moving on.

Owner Jerry Jones has said Williams isn’t going anywhere, but that doesn’t mean Crayton will realize his wish to leave.  Jean-Jacques Taylor of the Dallas Morning News doesn’t believe the Cowboys will trade or cut Crayton.

We don’t think they should.

Bryant was essentially drafted to replace Williams.  He’s an outside receiver.  Crayton is easily the most reliable slot receiver on the team, and getting rid of him would hurt the offense.

We suspect Bryant will cut into Williams’ snaps.  Crayton should still have a significant role.

Uggha bugga, me want out, me caveman! How about a little proofreading?

  2. Hey Ted Thompson, go get’em. This solves finding Driver’s replacement and gives you another guy to look at for a kick/punt returner.

  4. Methinks Dallas should trade him to New England. He would be a perfect fit there and with so many draft picks next year, the Patriots could send Dallas a third or fourth rounder (heck they could even include Derek Burgess if they were so inclined). New England shoud get this done.

  5. Crayton still owes Dallas fans for that game winner he should’ve caught against the Giants in the ’07 playoffs.

  6. I got roasted yesterday for being critical of the authors. Oh well, learn how to proof read! Muhahahaha

  7. Hello Chicago!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Wake up guys!!!!!!!!!!!! A relatively young, competant receiver, not overly expensive……..Or maybe you want to go 4-12?

  8. Not surprising. Crayton has done very well for a 7th Rd Draft pick.
He is probably right that Dez Bryant makes him superfluous among all the other WRs in Dallas.
That’s going to be a very talented group in the coming season:
    Miles Austin
    Roy Williams
    Dex Bryant
    Kevin Ogletree
Hurd is a stud special teams guy so he isn’t going anywhere. Bryant is a bigger, faster, stronger, more talented version of Crayton and he’ll most likely take over Crayton’s job as punt returner, making Crayton the odd man out. Williams is not going to be cut this season, he’s going to get this season to show he’s worth the money, if he doesn’t he will be gone in 2011 and Bryant will take his place.
I’d expect Bryant will be brought along slowly this season, he’ll get some touches as the 3rd/slot WR and a few in Roy’s #2 spot. He’ll be the punt/KO returner as well. Next year, if Roy doesn’t make a 180, Bryant will be the #2, with Ogletree the #3/Slot/backup.

  9. What the “F” ever happen to fighting for your position??
Why do these silly athletes think that everythings given to them??
Crayton is a fool of fool. Dez is there to take Williams job, not Craytons.
    What a fool…

  10. SCHISM in Big D….. it’s starting to unravel. Malcontented players tired of the b.s. are speaking up……..just a matter of time….
    Barber wants out
    Crayton wants out
The other players want Brooking to s.t.f.u.
Romo is sensitive & will hurt his taint this year
leaving Kitna to captain the sinking, smelly ship of poo!!

  11. Burgess is on the free market so go get him and a 3rd or 4th for a whinny loser like Crayton is a joke considering what Holmes and Marshall just went for.

  12. Crayton’s such a loudmouth punk who under-performs and comes up small in the clutch – he’s perfect for Dallas!

  13. I want to hear PC say he wants out, not JJT nor anyone else. And if he does and if he wants to be disruptive-show him the door.

  14. Once again, Crayton should STFU. He’s being paid a 2 millionbase salary to be a part-time player. Good luck getting that on any other team.

  15. “Dear customers, thank you for your support of our company.”
Good call posting this obvious spam, lazy board moderator.
    Start doing your job.

Why would TT want some other teams cast-off WR??? Crayton was the 3rd WR on a team with 1 WR (Austin) and now he’s the 4th WR on a team with 2 WR’s (Austin – Bryant).
I’d rather have 1 of the High School kids Favre throws to every summer than Crayton.

  17. WTF guys? I was under the impression the comments are approved before being posted to stop spam from getting through. Somebody really dropped the ball here.

Better hold on to all that mediocre talent you can. Miles Austin=Eddie Royals
So Eddie Royal has 250yd 2TD games?

  20. This site doesnt know shit!!!!
Kevin Ogletree is the new slot WR…dumb asses!!!!
If you want reliable Dallas news, dial me up. I only work for them.

  21. Crayton will do nicely in Miami or KC, where the coaching staff knows him to to extent.
He’s fairly dependable but just not physically gifted like the others in that locker room…including undrafted FA Ogletree.
I’m sure Romo would want him to stick around though. Besides Witten, Crayton probably has the most mileage with Romo.

  22. I think that Patrick now regrets not following the Tuna to Miami. I hope they get rid of Williams soon because they made a big mistake getting him in the first place and they’ve made an even bigger one keeping him around. What JJ signed him for has to have Austin’s agent salivating and it will have repercussions if he can’t convince Austin to sign for less than he’s worth.

  23. @ Boysroll-
-sorry to classy Dallas fans this one is for Boysroll..

  24. Very few Rookie Receivers show production in year one, so they are better off holding onto both williams and Crayton for now I think.

  25. Is this the same guy who vowed that they will play again with the Pats during the Pats 16-0 run when they lost to Pats in the Cowboys stadium? We all know what ended up happening.
    What an idiot he is?

  26. I’d want him on the 49ers if we weren’t already packed full of WRs. He’s a talented guy but unless Dez or someone else has an awful year he is easily the least talented of the group. I don’t think Dallas is falling apart or anything like that, they have always done things like this. If they lose a lot of games then maybe there will be some real locker room issues but as long as they win no one will be complaining once the season starts.

  27. If Crayton works hard enough he can beat Williams out. Austin in the slot, Williams or Crayton on the outside and Dez Bryant on the other side.

  28. Obviously, the headline was supposed to read like this: “Patrick Crayton wants out, Dallas!”
“Works on contingency? No, money down!”

  29. We have wanted you out of Dallas since you dropped 2 TD’s against the Giants in the playoffs 2 years ago you idiot

  30. You can’t let Pat Crayton leave, nobodys health is guaranteed. Austin could go down 1st snap of OTAs. He’ll get his catches. Dez really stymies Roy and to an extent Ogleetree.

  31. hey magicman407…loser sn. we are so stacked at receiver we dont need underperformers on our team. Send him to the 4skins…they are taking all the garbage in the league..
    This is for you too….LMFAO….

  32. Dallas wants out of Crayton.
Isn’t this the nobody who was running his mouth that one time?
How can you be a scrub and want out of something?

Agreed here, too. I remember it like it was yesterday. That play was THE pivotal moment in that game, IMO. To beat a team by double digits twice and then lose to them at home in the playoffs, only to see them go on and win it all, that still pisses me off.
As for the issue at hand, I wouldn’t mind letting Crayton go. He’s a decent, solid player, but he sure seems to flap his gums a lot for a guy who’s nothing special. And, again, I will never forgive his ass for that drop!!!
