While his teammates practiced in Pittsburgh, Ben Roethlisberger spent the weekend in a clinic, beginning a process the Steelers expect to take “days” not weeks.

“Depending on how that evaluation by specialists goes, [Roethlisberger] either could return to the team or be asked to return to the clinic for further evaluation,” Ed Bouchette of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette writes.

The evaluation is a key part of Roethlisberger’s suspension. SI’s Peter King reprinted an interesting letter sent by Roethlisberger’s lawyer David Cornwell to Commissioner Roger Goodell which focused on helping Roethlisberger develop as a person.

The Steelers next practice on May 18; it’s uncertain when Roethlisberger will be allowed to participate in football activities again.

UPDATE: Jason La Canfora of NFL Network writes that some in the Steelers organization are hopeful Roethlisberger can return by June OTAs.
