Vince Young is raising money for flood victims

Titans quarterback Vince Young, the team’s on-field leader, is taking the lead in connection with efforts to raise money for local residents affected by the recent flooding.

According to Jim Wyatt of the Tennessean, Young is working with Reebok and his foundation, seeking donations to assist the relief efforts.

“Nashville has taken a beating from Mother Nature and the damage is unbelievable,” Young said in a statement. “People have lost their lives, their homes and their businesses. Billions of dollars in damage hit Middle Tennessee in just 2 days. We will be rebuilt stronger than before, so will our efforts to take care of those most affected in our community. Nashville will be so beautiful again!”

Fans who donate $100 will receive a signed Pro Bowl photo from Young and a “Flood ’10 Reebuild” T-shirt.

Though we applaud Young for its efforts and we don’t want to sound crass (or, more accurately, any more crass than usual), the article says nothing about the size of the check that Young will personally be cutting.

His salary for 2010 is $7.5 million.
