We pointed out on Saturday that former Florida cornerback Wondy Pierre-Louis has been invited on a tryout (tree-out) basis to minicamps with both the Giants and, most recently, the Ravens. Pierre-Louis has drawn interest despite recently facing multiple felony counts for violence against his girlfriend, and ultimately pleading guilty to two counts of criminal mischief.
The Giants didn’t sign him, and we’re told that the Ravens won’t be signing him, either. Indeed, after the ongoing minicamp concludes today, Pierre-Louis will be sent packing by the Ravens.
We’re also told that the Ravens had done full research on Pierre-Louis, and that they were aware of his warts.
Again, we’re not trying to stand in the guy’s way of getting a gig in the NFL. But unless he has special talent (and the fact that he was a backup with the Gators suggests that he doesn’t), Pierre-Louis never should be taking a job in pro football that could instead go to a man who has not pleaded guilty to crimes arising out of the alleged laying of hands on a woman.
