The potential encore to Saints wideout Robert Meachem’s breakout season just hit a detour.
The fourth-year pro underwent sugery to repair torn cartilage on the second toe of his left foot, according to Brian Allee-Walsh of NewOrleans.com. The injury will knock him out until training camp at the earliest.
“It’s good that we caught it now,’' coach Sean Payton said.
The Saints have plenty of depth at wide receiver, with Devery Henderson back in a similar vertical role to Meachem. Lance Moore is the team’s fourth receiver.
