Rams guard Jacob Bell undergoes knee surgery

We ranked the five most underpaid players in the league earlier on Tuesday.

Any list of the most overpaid offensive linemen in the league has to include Rams guard Jacob Bell, who is due $5 million this season after two underwhelming campaigns in St. Louis.

We learned Tuesday that the former Tennessee Titan underwent arthroscopic knee surgery recently, according to Rams coach Steve Spagnuolo.  Bell will be out 4-6 weeks and miss all of OTAs.

The surgery makes us wonder if Bell will be fighting to make the team in training camp.  He’s due $6 million next season and seems unlikely to be on the roster by the time the Rams are playoff contenders again.

  1. haha… just another example in a long line of former titans who left after the titans were unwilling to pay and turned out to be busts who got top dollar elsewhere

  2. Hey, it’s really nice that the Rams got rid of Barron for some useless Dallas player. Barron may not be great, but as a second string blocker at any position on the line, he beats Mini Mouse. Now the Rams have no OL backups, but in exchange they have that dude from Dallas. Does he play LB? I hear he is Barbie. Backup OL exchanged for Barbie? Great job, Devaney. Rams just keep on charging! It was exciting to have that no. 1 draft pick, so much so that we will be seeking it again!

  3. Bell is just getting his knee scoped… he’s not going to have any problem making the Rams. He actually rates out pretty well at LG.

  4. I thought it was ridulous that they signed that contract 2 years ago. Dude had maybe 1-2 good years with Titants and got paid like he was one of the best guards in the league.
